Description

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING GOT-YA & Woodlawn After School Kids An enthusiastic staff supervises the GOT-YA & WOODLAWN After School Kids, offering a wide range of activities for each child to choose from. Activities range from quiet reading times and homework assistance to games of basketball. Woodlawn After School Kids Program W.A.S. K.P. chooses various activities of interest. At this time there are no mandatory activities, but participation in the Program is encouraged! University of Chicago students volunteer to tutor and mentor children from the Woodlawn neighborhood through the Woodlawn After School Kids Program. Activities include working on math and computer skills, art projects, and field trips. SUMMER PROGRAMMING GOT-YA Summer Youth Camp for Kids Sports Camp This group is comprised of students enrolled in any of GOT-YAs programs. Sports include: tennis, volleyball, track, baseball, basketball and swimming. We like to create balance in education to help break up the monotony of learning using extracurricular activities as a vehicle. These activities also help youth develop their skills in the related sports. GOT-YA Volunteers GOT-YA Volunteers form the basic team-based structure that ensures quality experience for our students. Students choose projects of interest to them, and all projects allow for creativity. We want our Volunteers to represent and experience the full diversity of the community and the city the community lives in. GOT-YAs high school students earn Services Learning hours. REGULAR PROGRAMMING One of the goals of the program is to nurture each child and develop his/her individual skills and abilities. Activities that boost childrens self-esteem and awareness are key components of the program. A healthy snack is served each day. Computer Literacy GOT-YA students have access to online resources and powerful technology tools used for collaborative learning.
