Mission Statement

Our mission is to ensure justice for Washington’s low-income community through free, high-quality legal assistance while training third-year law students in lawyering and courtroom advocacy skills.

Description

Law Students in Court is celebrating 45 years as a dynamic force for justice in the District. We will host our annual Celebration of Service Reception on April 10th, 2013 at the Carnegie Institution of Washington. We are looking for volunteers to help carry out the logistics of the reception.

This year’s Celebration of Service Award will be presented to Susan M. Hoffman, partner at Crowell & Moring LLP, to honor her extraordinary contributions to pro bono work in the DC community. Susie’s been described as the "Godmother of law firm pro bono in the District," leading the call to service and encouraging a pro bono culture within the DC bar. Throughout her career, Susie has dedicated her time, expertise and energy to filling the legal needs of DC’s low income community.
