NC Psychoanalytic Foundation
The mission of the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Foundation (NCPF) is to help individuals and our community understand and alleviate problems that lead to emotional suffering and disability and to enhance their capacity for personal development and improved community functioning.
Founded in 1995, NCPF is a 501(c)(3) public charity that strives to create a more resilient community by focusing the strengths of the psychoanalytic community in addressing critical needs of North Carolinians. We provide community outreach, programs, support for therapists in training, continuing education for therapists, and resource referral services.
Psychoanalysis is the most comprehensive treatment available today for healing mental distress and promoting personal growth and development. Psychoanalysis is a deep, insight-oriented form of psychotherapy in which patient and analyst work together to explore conscious and unconscious factors that create unhappiness in the form of painful symptoms, difficulties in work and relationships, or disturbances in self-esteem.
Psychoanalysis is often helpful when attempts at self-help, talking to family or friends, or briefer, less intensive treatments have not been adequate. The sustained and personal collaboration with an analyst can ease depression and anxiety, restore self-esteem, relieve inner conflict and lead to a greater capacity for love, work and play.
For more information about psychoanalysis and how it can be used to address issues in our community, visit our website here: www.ncpsychoanalysis.org/about.htm or watch our short video: An Introduction to Psychoanalysis.
