Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
A passionate and powerful voice--CASA El Dorado’s trained and court appointed volunteers advocate on behalf of abused children and at-risk youth. Together with our communities involvement and generous support, we will positivity impact the lives of our children.
Each year we help 350-400 abused and neglected kids get out of foster care (where CPS places them after pulling them from their homes) and into safe, permanent ones. Their stories (those who are old enough to talk) of alcohol and drug addicted parents abusing and/or neglecting them, using federal assistance money for their addiction instead of food and basic needs for their kids is appalling, gut wrenching and hard to hear. They didn't ask to be born into the mess they find themselves in and the ONLY bright spot in a foster care world of MANY moves from home to home, people giving up on them or forcing prescription medication on them to calm them down, is their CASA volunteer Advocate who is consistently there for them throughout the entire court case dates. Whether it's the addictive parent getting help and getting their kid(s) back, or finding the other parent, family members, foster or adoptive parents, the volunteer, court appointed advocate who goes through 30 hours of training before taking 2 kids a year, is THE KEY PERSON in ALL of these kids' lives.
