Mission Statement
"The mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society is to share God's love in word and deed by providing shelter and supportive services to older persons and others in need, believing that "In Christ's Love, Everyone is Someone."
Description
The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, the parent organization, was founded 80 years ago out of the generosity of individuals who responded to the plea of August "Dad" J. Hoeger, Sr., a pastor, to help a young polio victim. As a result of this community's generosity, the first Good Samaritan Home was opened in Arthur, North Dakota.
Winfield Good Samaritan Village began its history in Winfield, Kansas in 1961. In 1973, the facility moved into its current home on Wheat Road and acquired the building from Snyder Clinic. In 1985, an apartment complex was added. A Special Care Unit for Alzheimer residents opened in 1988 and was expanded in 1991. Apartment complexes were converted into assisted living apartments during the 1990?s.
Currently, the nursing home cares for 70 residents and there are 20 assisted living residents.
