Historic Fort Wayne volunteers promote the preservation, restoration and redevelopment of the only pre-Civil War fortification in metro Detroit. The fort's riverfront park setting is also a major community resource in Southwest Detroit.

Description

Historic Fort wayne is an 83 acre complex of former US Army buildings which has been operated as a museum since the 1940s. It is located on the banks of the Detroit River in Southwest Detroit. The Fort is a Nationally Registered historic site and features a moated and walled fortification with a large barracks dating back to the 1840s.
