Mission Statement

The San Francisco City Hall Docent Program each year educates approximately 25,000 tourists, visitors, VIPs, international guests and school children about the history, architecture and function of the building. It preserve and promotes understanding of the rich culture and tapestry that is San Francisco's hallmark.

Description

Are you interested in art and architecture? Do you enjoy showing off San Francisco to visitors? Would you like to share the joy of exploring one of The City?s most splendid landmarks? If so, you could be a perfect candidate for the City Hall Docent Tour Program!

The Docent Tour Program maintains a busy schedule of guided walks in City Hall through daily public tours plus private tours for groups visiting The City. Due to heavy demand, we need volunteers who are available weekdays, especially mornings between 9:00 AM and noon. Previous tour guide experience or public speaking skills are helpful, but not necessary. This is a volunteer position and is unpaid. Docents must complete five 1-hour training sessions that include an orientation and a tour script review. Docents must also ?shadow? at least 5 tours with current docents.
