Eagle Village Community Center Youth & Family Services strives to to create a safe place to support the development of the "whole child", both in and out of the classroom, through academic, cultural, recreational, mental health and family services.

Description

In 2009, Eagle Village established itself as an independent 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization in order to provide families of Westlake Middle School in Oakland, CA a one-stop access to a wide array of public and community services on campus. Eagle Village is receiving growing recognition as a model of success in the Oakland Unified School District for its early adoption of a Community School framework, which is gaining momentum across the nation as a key to removing barriers to academic success. Locally, the Oakland Unified School District is using the Community School framework as a blueprint for change and is striving to transform its schools with this model.
