The role of a Choices Mentor, is to become an ally of the youth participant and to encourage their success as they advance throughout the different phases of the program.
The Mentor is matched with a youth based on gender and mutual interests. As a Mentor, you will help identify goals and maximize skill-building throughout the program.
By mentoring, you become a supportive entity in helping the participant to successfully complete the program and a positive influence in the participants ability to make better choices.
Choices is the name of the Fulton County Juvenile Drug Court Program. It is a highly structured, non-adversarial accountability and intervention program, targeting court-involved youth who use alcohol or other drugs.
Choices impacts the juvenile court system by reducing the number of alcohol and drug-related offenses processed through Court. This intervention focuses on intensive substance abuse treatment and probation supervision, with frequent court appearances, educational support, random drug testing, mentoring, and individual, group and family counseling. The Court awards incentives for compliant behavior and imposes graduated sanctions for negative behavior.
