During June thousands of friends and supporters will once again be Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma across New York, Connecticut and Northern New Jersey. These twelve events help to create awareness and raise the funds that the Tri-State Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation needs to combat scleroderma. Your sponsorship will help us further our mission of providing support and education services to the people that suffer from this crippling and deadly disease and supporting research.
The Scleroderma Foundation/Tri-State Chapter is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for scleroderma while assisting patients with education and support. There are more than 29,000 sufferers afflicted with scleroderma in the Tri-State region and over 300,000 nationwide. It is a highly individualized disease, sometimes attacking the lungs, esophagus, heart, and kidneys. It can be fatal. There is no known cause or cure.
In 2012 our walks helped us to raise the funds needed to provide support and educational services to our 5,600 members as well as subsidize research programs that will someday result in a cure for this horrible disease. Research is progressing, but with very limited government funding, we need your help more than ever to find a cure.
