We have two offices in the North and South of Houston, but our patients are located all over the Houston area. If you are volunteering for the southeast your patient will be located in the (Baytown, Pasadena, Channelview). Every act of kindness or service is of absolute, equal importance. Every patient want or need is a treasure revealed... Do you enjoy visiting with people and being of help to others? Join our Patient Care Volunteer Team! Patient Care Volunteers offer kindness, attention and thoughtful support to our hospice patients and their families at a time when it means the most. Patient Care Volunteers visit patients and/or hospice family members in southwest Houston one hour a week to provide a caring presence, ease loneliness and provide help with projects or enjoyable activities. Activities can range from sharing a cup of coffee while reading the newspaper or maybe The Bible out loud to your patient, to doing art at the bedside, to providing a quiet presence during a tender time, to working on a life review project, to sharing a creative activity, to doing special things your patient is not able to enjoy without some extra help. Volunteers mean so much to our patients and families! Training and great support from the hospice staff will be provided! Kindness, compassion and service... We are in need of volunteers to help with a variety of projects in our office. No special skills are needed, but if you have special areas of experience or interests, we are ready to discuss how we can best utilize your time and service. Our office team volunteers play a valuable "behind the scenes" role in support of our nurses, aides, chaplains, and social workers who care for our hospice patients and families! We need help with organizing supplies, preparing mailings and newsletters, computer work, organizing paperwork and filing, preparing our "Honoring Our Veterans" materials, and many other things. At Good Shepherd Hospice we recognize and appreciate the talents and gifts that every volunteer brings to our program! Letter of recomendation awarded after 30 Volunteer Hours completed. Good Shepherd Hospice is looking for reliable volunteers who would like the honor of hand crafting Remembrance Bears for the families of our hospice patients. A cherished item of the patient’s clothing, whether that be a special sweatshirt, bath robe, or favorite shirt, is used to create the Remembrance Bear. *All supplies provided. Must have sewing machine and know how to sew. Volunteer works from home!

VET-TO-VET VOLUNTEERS Are you a Veteran looking for a meaningful way to give back to your band of brothers and sisters who served? Vet-to-Vet Volunteers have the unique ability to relate, connect, share stories and enhance the quality of life for veteran patients. This creates a common bond that only Veterans can share. Volunteering with Veteran patients takes as little as two hours a week. As a Vet-to-Vet Volunteer, you will play an important role in our team.
