Program Summary: Shirley Meadows is a tight-knit community of 58 residents located in Devens, Massachusetts. We are searching for a volunteer to support our campus staff with resident services by providing friendly visiting, companionship, and assisting with wellness checks throughout the building. We are looking for a social and independent volunteer who enjoys building relationships with older adults. Key Responsibilities: Each shift, assist the campus staff with wellness checks throughout the building Socialize with residents and provide companionship to the community Update 2Life staff if there are any concerns Impact Goal: The volunteer will provide companionship and support to our Shirley Meadows campus. Qualifications: Volunteer must be 18 years and older for this position Friendly and welcoming attitude Reliability and Independence Ability to keep a conversation going Schedule/Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week, during business hours (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm). Preferred day of the week is Monday, however the schedule is flexible. Volunteer must commit to at least three months. Program Summary: We are searching for a Spanish-speaking volunteer to facilitate a weekly faith-based gathering for our residents. Our community of Spanish-speaking residents have a common interest in exploring topics related to faith, hope, resilience, and community. We are looking for a volunteer who has an interest in exploring faith and who feels confident leading meaningful discussions. Location: Brighton Campus - 30 Wallingford Rd, Brighton MA 02135 Key responsibilities: Prepare a topic or discussion prior to the weekly session, based on resident’s interests Facilitate a meaningful discussion on chosen topic Provide a welcoming environment for all who attend Build relationships with residents who attend and encourage them to come back each week Impact Goal: This program will provide space for our Spanish-speaking residents to gather and engage in discussion with their values. Qualifications: 18 years of age or older Comfortable working with older adults Experience leading discussions and managing group dynamics Comfort discussing sensitive topics including faith, grief/loss, trauma, etc. A desire to build relationships and welcoming attitude Bilingual in Spanish Time Commitment/Schedule: Once a week for 1 hr. Program Summary: Our Brighton Campus is searching for a Mandarin or Cantonese-speaking volunteer to support our Joyful Connections Program at 2Life. Joyful Connections is a therapeutic program that addresses the particular needs of residents who are on the memory loss spectrum. The primary goal of Joyful Connections is to promote a positive emotion and sense of well-being in persons with dementia. Each session consists of three components based on the Alzheimer Association’s recommendations for activity planning─exercise, a healthy snack, and a therapeutic activity such as music and movement, dance, or art. The volunteer would support our Joyful Connections Program Coordinator by interpreting for our Cantonese-speaking residents who attend and assisting with program activities. Key responsibilities: Attend training relevant to your role Interpret for Cantonese-speaking residents who attend the program Support Joyful Connections program by participating in activities, providing assistance to residents as needed, and follow instructions from Joyful Connections Program Coordinator Impact Goal: The intent of the program is to promote social connection, joy, and a sense of well-being for residents on the memory loss spectrum. Qualifications: 18 years of age or older Fluent, or proficient, in Mandarin or Cantonese is strongly preferred Comfortable working with older adults experiencing memory loss Ability to keep information confidential and maintain appropriate boundaries Willingness to help, flexibility, and patience Time Commitment/Schedule: Looking for a volunteer to start in May 2024. Program Summary: 2Life is in need of volunteers to help build residents’ confidence in navigating technology. Tech volunteers will provide one-on-one tech support in person in Computer Centers and in residents’ apartments when required. The tech mastery of 2Life’s residents varies; some residents are just learning how to send emails, while others are learning how to edit photos. Tech Tutors are not expected to solve every tech issue, they are asked to try their best! Location: Golda Meir House: 160 Stanton Ave, Newton, MA 02466 Key responsibilities: Meet with residents one-on-one either in campus Computer Center or in resident apartments. Train residents on using Computer Center PC computers, printers, and scanners, as well as Chromebooks and tablets borrowed by residents from 2Life. Train residents on using their own personal devices, which include laptops, tablets and smartphones. Establish residents’ tech mastery goals, train residents on technical skills, write out lists of steps for residents, occasionally troubleshoot residents’ devices at a very basic level, etc. Impact Goal: Empower residents to confidently access technology, participate in virtual programs hosted by 2Life, and connect with their loved ones and community supports. Qualifications: Volunteer must be 16 years and older for this position Bilingual in Cantonese or Mandarin Basic knowledge of computers, tablets and smartphones Experience sending emails, using a smartphone, listening to audio books, uploading photos, etc. Ability to explain tech terminology using simple language and in multiple ways Flexibility, patience and a good sense of humor Time Commitment/Schedule: Work with residents for 2-4 hours/week during business hours. Volunteer must commit to at least three months. Program Summary: We have multiple campuses in need of a volunteer to manage the front desk. Front Desk volunteers represent the first point of contact at 2Life Communities. Front Desk Ambassador's provide general reception services and office support by greeting and assisting visitors, answering the phone, and assisting with residents’ requests. Key responsibilities: Greet and welcome residents, guests, and visitors Provide administrative and clerical support to 2Life staff General reception services by answering the telephone, answering questions, and directing visitors. Enforce building security, as directed by staff Impact Goal: To provide a welcoming environment for our residents, guests, and visitors. Qualifications: Volunteer must be 16 years and older for this position Good communication skills, a good problem solver, and organized Friendly and with confidence to ask visitors to sign in upon arrival to maintain building security Bilingual in Russian, Cantonese, or Mandarin preferred but not required Time Commitment/Schedule: 4-6 hours per week during normal business hours (M-F, 9am-5pm).
