Mission Statement

- To identify, protect, encourage and promote traditional and contemporary folk music and dance.
- To educate the public in folk tradition by publicizing, encouraging and producing concerts, jams, open mics,
contra dances and other events.
- To encourage the development of local folk talent and to showcase local and national performers.

Description

We produce the annual Sarasota Folk & Acoustic Music Festival in late March every year. This Festival takes place at Oscar Scherer Park over a weekend and includes 3 stages going simulataneously with live performances by local, regional and national folk, and acoustic acts. There are also jam sessions and workshops offered over the weekend.

We also produce a monthly concert series which is held on the last Monday of every month at the Sarasota Saling Squadron on City Island, Sarasota.
