To address the educational, cultural, and recreational needs of the Old North Hampton Communtiy and surrounding areas.

To foster relationships with community partners to develop partnerships and outreach opportunities that meet citizens' needs.

Description

Over the years individuals and groups expressed an interest in the Y. H. Thomas School as a proposed site for a community center. During the fall 1992 several neighborhood interest groups formed a community-wide coalition. (Coalition for Community Pride and Progress. After renovations the Y. H. Thomas Community Center opened in April 1996. The community center holds an after school program, is a site for a Summer Playground program in partnership with Hampton Parks and Recreation. Has a computer lab that is accessible to students and members of the community.
