Foundation for Intercultural Learning and Exchange (F.I.L.E) is an international, voluntary, non-governmental organization which is designed to promote Cross-Cultural interchange and understanding by bringing people of different cultures from International Universities, Colleges and High Schools together for the purpose of academic and cultural progress. We mainly work to create interest and enthusiasm for intercultural learning through exchange programs
Description
The GAP Year program aims at enabling young people who have graduated from High School to travel to Africa to provide voluntary service to needy Community in their specific interest areas. It is an inbound program. The program offers the volunteers the opportunity to learn a foreign language, have practical intercultural learning experiences, and enjoy the support of experienced FILE Staff and Volunteers. It strengthens participant's confidence in working with community based organizations like orphanages, health institutions, and special educational institutions like schools for the blind, guinea worm eradication project, rural community water and sanitation projects, street children, agro forestry, family planning and
reproductive health, human rights, women empowerment institutions. This program lasts between six months to one year.
