Mission Statement

The mission of the English Center is to realize the participation of international women and men in the social, political, and economic opportunities of the 21st century world. Through English language training, we will foster cross-communication and career advancement, enabling non-native speakers of English to achieve their fullest potential.

Description

The English Center is an independent educational institution located in Oakland, California. For over 30 years, ECIW has prepared international students to enter U.S. colleges and universities. Since 1984, we have also served immigrant students who need English language, computer skills, and job readiness training to be competitive in the local job market.

Recently, the EC was one of a handful of organizations highlighted in the study "Supporting English Language Acquisition" from The Annie E. Casey Foundation and Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees.
