Mission Statement

The Pace University Community and Volunteer Mobilization AmeriCorps program (CVM) recruits and trains members and volunteers dedicated to the recovery and rehabilitation of the Downtown and Chinatown areas of New York City that were devastated on September 11th, 2001.

Description

CVM AmeriCorps members and volunteers serve in collaboration with the American Red Cross in Greater New York, training local communities to prepare for emergencies.

The members and volunteers also work in conjunction with the Corporation for National and Community Service Learn and Serve Masters of Disasters Program, educating and preparing high school students in issues of preparedness and security, which they in turn teach to middle school children in Chinatown .

In addition, the program offers English as a Second Language classes, computer and technology education, ISACC- Child Health Plus program and citizenship workshopsfor a large immigrant population residing in the neighborhood.
