Elara Caring Hospice is looking for pet therapy volunteers. A visit from a therapy dog can be so therapeutic. Terminally ill patients enjoy the extra attention and unconditional love they feel from a 4 legged companion. In order to volunteer and visit patients, you must have your own dog who is certified through TDI, Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs or West Michigan Therapy Dogs Inc. Volunteer hours are very flexible. Volunteer hours can be completed during weekdays, evenings or weekends. We are looking for special volunteers to visit patients at the bedside, to offer vigil and support. You could hold a hand, sing softly, read scripture or poetry, and provide support for the family at the bedside. Hours are flexible--weekdays, evenings, weekends or on an on-call basis.
