Mission Statement

Our mission is to bring communities out of poverty by fostering the exchange of innovative, cost-effective and sustainable solutions that improve the livelihoods of people at the bottom of the pyramid. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, TEL was founded in 2009 by two alumni from the MIT Sloan School of Management, whose shared vision of poverty alleviation was inspired by their collective experience at MIT of introducing technology-based innovations to improve the lives of people around the world.

Description

The Technology Exchange Lab (TEL) is a nonprofit information center for low-cost, high-impact solutions to problems of poverty. TEL hosts a global community of social entrepreneurs, NGOs and communities looking to share and discover innovative, locally implemented solutions to problems of poverty and sustainability.

With a curated database of 500+ technology-based solutions in six key areas (Water & Sanitation; Agriculture; Energy; Education & IT; Housing & Transport; Health & Medical Care), TEL helps connect innovative solution providers to the organizations and individuals that need them most.

Through its free Project Accelerator service, TEL assists individuals and organizations by guiding technology search and selection, establishing connections with solution providers, sourcing solutions for testing and providing additional support and resources towards project implementation.
