Mission Statement
To work towards the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Every child deserves a chance to succeed in school.
Description
Jumpstart is a national early literacy organization that works towardthe day whenevery child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Jumpstart accomplishes this vision through supporting Corps members to work individually with young children in preschool settings. Our Jumpstart School Year focus on three integrated program areas:
Building Children?s School Success: Jumpstart provides individualized attention to young children during the school year. Jumpstart uses 15 School Success Outcomes to guide our work with children. These outcomes ~ developmentally appropriate skills in the areas of language & literacy and initiative & social relations ~ outline Jumpstart?s School Success Curriculum.
Supporting Family Involvement: Jumpstart believes that families are children?s first teachers and engages families as partners to support their children?s school success. Wherever possible, Jumpstart adapts our curriculum to extend learning into the home.
Preparing Future Teachers: Jumpstart?s training for Corps members is designed to increase their knowledge of early childhood education and to enable them to implement the School Success Curriculum effectively with young children.
