Description

Habitat for Humanity's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. As a non-profit organization, we depend on our generous donors and volunteers to make this vision a reality.

One arm of our fundraising efforts is the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. In nearly 800 locations nationwide, our ReStore staff and volunteers happily accept donations of new and gently used items. We sell those items to treasure hunters and bargain shoppers alike to raise money for our mission of eliminating substandard housing. The ReStore provides a more affordable avenue for home improvement projects, all while keeping tons of perfectly good items from ending up in the landfill.

The ReStore Support Group is a team of Habitat for Humanity Int'l staff and volunteers that provides consulting, coaching, and training on best practices to ReStore staff throughout the country.

HfH Restore Management at one Restore at least abuses Volunteers and Staff to the point that Volunteers have stopped coming and Staff is fleeing. The visitor from HfH gave Staff no warning, heads up or introduction, met mostly in public... asked some good questions but for only twenty minutes or so. Most people were afraid to talk to this person and no one trusted this "stranger". This particular Restore has a Manager who berates the Employees who are left that they are not working hard enough after asking them repeatedly to stay longer than scheduled. It is that person's quoted statement on many mornings that "this is not supposed to be fun".....but if HfH wants Executive Directors who abuse Staff and Managers who follow that style....then it should be no surprise that people leave in a revolving door of changing faces---except the top very well paid position. Staff is on drugs, steal from the Store and each other, lie on time sheets, and have no respect for HfH and why should they?
