Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
TreeHouse Wildlife Center, Inc., established as a non-profit corporation, is dedicated to the rehabilitation of orphaned and injured native wildlife. In addition, TreeHouse Wildlife Center, Inc. is committed to providing environmental educational outreach programs. TreeHouse believes that as the public becomes knowledgeable of the natural history of our native species, they help ensure public stewardship, which in turn protects our wildlife heritage and their habitat.
TreeHouse is a wildlife rehabilitation facility that operates under permits from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources. Located just north of Alton, Illinois, TreeHouse serves citizens of southwestern Illinois who encounter injured or orphaned wildlife, by providing an legal and professional means of assistance to them and the animals involved.
TreeHouse Wildlife Center is NOT a zoo. It is essential that the creatures in our facility remain wild. Care is taken to maintain the patient's instincts and limit human contact until the animal is returned to its natural habitat.
Volunteers are essential to TreeHouse. Although cage cleaning is a daily task at the center, it is by no means the only job. Volunteers are encouraged to learn all aspects of patient care and treatment.
While no previous experience is necessary, you must be 16 years of age or older to volunteer without a parent/legal guardian, and you must carry your own personal medical insurance.
