Mission Statement

The Bridge Clinic of Rockford

Volunteers Mission Statement

In our Community we exist to provide free health care for the immediate needs of adults who have no access. Increase altruism. Instill values of medical ethics in our students. And improve overall wellness.

Our Mission

The Bridge Clinic aims to ensure that our neighbours and friends have access to basic medical care. Since Jan 2008, we have served as a safety net for the uninsured and financially challenged in the area.

Our Goal

Our goal is to provide basic limited medical care effectively and efficiently, always conscious of the need to preserve dignity and confidentiality. We work diligently to minimize inappropriate use of the emergency room, screen for health issues, prevent deterioration of health, and secure an understanding of self-care. We put a heavy emphasis on education and patients being responsible for their own health care.

Description

How does the Clinic Operate?

The Bridge Clinic is supported through the generosity of individuals, churches, corporations, foundations, clubs, organizations and our local health care systems.

The Clinic Manager organizes the daily operations of the Clinic and medical care is overseen by a Medical Director. Both report to a Board of Directors. The Clinic is then supported by priceless group of wonderful volunteers who offer their time, skills and expertise to help us care for our patients.

Who Qualifies for Care?

The Clinic provides care to adults over 18 years of age who have needs with no insurance and/or limited

resources and are not pregnant.

We do not, at this time, require proof of income and choose to take patients at their word.

The Bridge Clinic does not duplicate the services of other agencies. Please contact us directly to verify the types of medical treatment we offer if you have questions.

What Costs Are Involved?

There is absolutely no fee to be seen. The visit is free!

We may require blood tests which are necessary for continued care. These are available at a very reasonable and affordable cost to the patient from an outside lab.

Medications are prescribed when possible using the $4 lists. Occasionally we have very limited samples. We also have access to pharmaceutical companies’ prescription assistance programs.

What do We Expect of Our Patients?

To put in as much, if not more effort than our volunteers. Take medication as prescribed. Exercise, eat a well-balanced diet and work effectively towards stopping smoking. Take advantage, attend and participate in free programs and education provided via The Bridge Clinic.

You are responsible for your own health and care, but we are here to guide and help.

If it is important to you, you will find a way, if not, you will find an excuse!
