Mission Statement

Boys' & Girls' Towns of Italy empowers war refugee, migrant and at-risk youth living on the streets of Italy. Through our innovative self-government approach, our young people develop vital skills needed to integrate into, and contribute to society as active, self-reliant adults.

Description

At Boys’ & Girls’ Towns of Italy (BGTI), we give war refugee and migrant youth a community base from which they can build fulfilling lives as adults. With over 65 years of success supporting at-risk young people, we believe our approach has a lot to offer the field of youth development.

Through our innovative self-government model, these young people take responsibility for running their Town. In this way, they not only acquire formal education and vocational training, but also the confidence and social skills needed to integrate into and contribute to democratic society.

The role of Boys’ & Girls’ Towns of Italy, an American 501(c)(3) non-profit, is to raise the funds that sustain this program and support the expansion of its unique self-government model throughout the world. BGTI is a privately-funded, grassroots organization with volunteer committees across the country responsible for organizing diverse fundraising events.
