Mission Statement
Save A Pet, Inc. (SAP), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer organization funded by private donations. Our mission is to offer care for abused, neglected, unwanted or homeless animals until they can be placed in suitable loving permanent homes. We provide safe shelter, food, medication and veterinary care for animals in our care and all are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. We set no time limits on animals waiting for adoption; we do not euthanize to make room for more. Our goal is to help bring an end to animal suffering and overpopulation through educating the public on the importance of pet sterilization, responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of animals.
Description
We take our dogs to adoption events, and in most cases do home inspections to be sure the adopter has a fenced yard and lives in a safe area. When we have spay/neuter clinics we have to clean crates for the event, and take crates so that the animals will have a place to stay while waiting and recovering from surgery, then the crates are cleaned again. We have approximately 30 dogs that we feed, clean stalls and exercise by walking or putting in an arena. We keep our dogs on monthly heartworm medication and frontline. We are supported by donations and we have fundraising events to bring in additional money. It costs approximately $6000 a month to operate our shelter. We are a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation, and we are registered with Georgia Charitable Solicitations Act/Charitable Organization Registration with Georgia Secretary of State.
