Mission - FMA wants to preserve the American dream for our youth. We strive to achieve social and economic transformation in communities by educating high school and college students in personal financial education, career discovery, postsecondary education funding and selection, team building, critical thinking and problem solving using reality based math. Our REAL LIFE curriculum is outcome based. FMA engages community leaders as subject matter experts, career mentors and life coaches to guide students, their families and communities. Objective- FMA’s objective is to license the highly effective, Real Life Financial Mathematics high school course to 10,000 Texas students in Sept 2017 and 100,000 students nationally by 2022. Additionally, we wamt to recruit 10,000 Texas community leaders to support RLFM districts.
Financial Mentors of America engages the community to support school districts offering Real Life Financial Mathematics (RLFM).
RLFM is the legacy of and incorporates the award winning Game of Real Life. RLFM offers financial, economic, career interest assessment, career discovery, college selection & funding courses to Texas high school students.
FMA began the Game of Real Life in the greater Houston area and since 2007 more than 1,200 high school students have registered for the GAME.
Lorraine Decker, co-author of the GAME received the FDIC Chairman's Award for Innovation in Financial Education and the 2012 Purpose Prize Award from Encore Organization.
