Mission Statement

The mission of the Bucknell Institute for Lifelong Learning is to engage mature learners from a wide range of educational backgrounds in creative and intellectual activities that expand their horizons, invigorate their minds, and stimulate curiosity and the joy of learning. Members participate in courses, organize and lead study groups, and devise other educational opportunities that reflect Bucknell University's commitment to liberal education. The goal of the Institute is to involve all participants in active learning, where ideas, interests, and life experiences are shared.

Description

The Bucknell Institute for Lifelong Learning (BILL) is a membership organization. After submitting a modest membership fee ($35 full year; $20 half-year), members are entitled to register for up to two non-credit courses per term (two six-week terms per year--fall and spring). Membership also confers other benefits such as discounted tickets, Bucknell library use, and more. There is a fee for each course ($35 for six-week course; $20 for three-week course).

BILL also has a schedule of special presentations, including "Lunch & Learn", lunchtime programs on a variety of topics; and "Tea & Talk," late afternoon programs focusing on the arts. Additional programs such as bus and other field trips and special lectures are offered periodically, as well.
