The mission of Ashe' Cultural Arts Center, (Ashe') an Initiative of Efforts of Grace, Inc. is to promote, produce, create and support programs, activities and creative works that emphasize the positive contributions of people of African descent.
Ashe' accomplishes this mission by presenting and producing cultural art through the creation of partnerships and collaborations that bring the forces of community development and artist support together. The early history of Efforts of Grace was dominated by community visual art and eventually performance art projects that toured throughout the state of Louisiana and the South. The themes of the work were the story of the African-American Community's struggles in America and our hopes and dreams for a better life.
The core values that guide Efforts of Grace, Inc. and Ashe' Cultural Arts Center are:
Collaboration; Community-based connectedness; Community advocacy; Community dialog; Cultural reciprocity and justice; and, Economic and community development. These values shape and permeate the work and initiatives of the six main domains of the organization: art, culture, youth activities, community development, community gatherings and community advocacy. Our partnerships and alliances include artists, cultural workers and cultural/arts organizations, change agents, churches, community advocates and advocacy organizations, service delivery organizations, schools, and service organizations.
