Mission Statement

Faith in Action of Johnstown is an interfaith volunteer caregiving program. We invite neighbors of every faith to work together to help our elderly and vulnerable neighbors maintain their independence and stay in their own homes. All volunteers receive the necessary training to provide non-medical services to the elderly--the kind of everyday chores that we all take for granted that become more difficult with age. Something as simple as changing a lightbulb, offering to grocery shop, or providing transportation to a doctor appointment can make all the difference.

Description

Faith in Action of Johnstown is part of a larger national network of more than 1000 Faith in Actions nationwide and recieves technical assistance from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. In Johnstown, Faith in Action was founded in 2004 by the Moxham Ministerium, an ecumenical clergy organization.

Faith in Action of Johnstown currently has 40 active volunteers and serves more than 70 vulnerable neighbors. FIA recieves referrals from the American Cancer Society, Conemaugh Hospice, Office on Aging and other local organizations.
