The Great Valley Nature Center was established in 1974. Our colonial-era fieldstone bank barn serves as the education building. The 10.5 acres provide several natural area field study that includes a stream, pond, wetland, field and woodland habitats. Also featured:
- Birds of Prey Center for injured raptors that can not be returned to the wild
- Replica Native American Lenape Village
- Animal Exhibit/Discovery room
- PA wildflower garden
- Maple Sugar house and two-story Springhouse
The Great Valley Nature Center is now entering its 39th year and has a long and proud history of serving the surrounding community and region in providing quality environmental education programs and recreational experiences for children and adults. As a result, GVNC has a strong reputation for delivering programs that increase awareness and appreciation of the natural environment.
Our on-site and off-site programs are designed for preschoolers through seniors, including individuals with special needs. We reach over 40,000 children and adults annually in Chester County, Philadelphia and the surrounding region.
