Mission Statement

The Institute of Maritime History is a non-profit corporation that was founded in 1994 to research, document, find, and preserve archaeological sites that relate to maritime history, and to assist colleges and graduate students in maritime archaeological field projects. Clients and beneficiaries of our work include state governments, the federal government, colleges, and private societies in the field.

Description

We conduct historical research, underwater reconnaissance, and assessment of historic underwater sites. Current projects are in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maine, Georgia, and Florida. Participants include students, adults, and retirees. Opportunities exist for divers and non-divers alike.
