Friends of Rescue Animals places our foster cats and kittens at PetSmart Rowlett when they are ready to be adopted. We need daily assistance with cleaning, feeding, and playing with the animals. Volunteers sign up to cover a daily shift, and they can go anytime the store is open that day. A typical shift is 2 hours to clean all 5 kennels and spend time with the cats.

Volunteers are needed for the many different opportunities: (If you have skills or passion, we can find the spot for you!) Shelter Volunteer: You can volunteer at the Rowlett, TX or Garland, TX animal shelters through our program. This includes tasks such as walking dogs, caring for cats, laundry/dishes and assisting potential adopters. Offsite Dog Adoptions: this includes anything from bathing dogs before the event, transporting them to/from the event, handling them and talking to potential adopters, or setting up the event venue. PetSmart Cat Crew: Our organization rescues cats and when ready, adopts them out through Rockwall, Tx PetSmart adoption center. Our volunteers maintain the adoption center by cleaning the cat condos, replacing liter, feeding/watering, and cleaning of the adoption area. Of course there is also cat cuddling time between cleans! Fundraisers: we have many different fundraising opportunities because we think fundraising should be FUN! We have done events such as Pooch Plunge (poochplunge.org), Bowl for a Paws, Mother's Day Photos, local merchant fundraising nights, and much more. Social Media/Online Marketing: Do you like creating pictorial posts, updating website information, sharing organizational needs through social media and marketing? Do you have the technology skills along with the passion to create eye catching posts? Are you Facebook savvy where you can cross-post to several pages/groups? This is for you! As you can see, there are many things that are involved with getting the animals adopted, so there is bound to be something that you love to do or that fits your personality! Imagine how you feel when you are out of your element. It’s hard to show your true self. The same can be said of animals that are separated from their homes and placed in a foreign environment with a lot of commotion. These animals may never have the ability to find their forever home. This is where being a foster assists greatly in getting an animal placed. We are able to tell potential adopters about the personality of the animal, whether they get along well with other animals, children, are house-trained, etc. FRAs will provide food, medicine and vet care necessary for you to foster an animal in your home.
