Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
To inspire people to value and discover existing resources to strengthen the social and environmental vitality of communities.
The ReBuilding Center is a vibrant resource working to strengthen the environmental, economic, and social fabric of local communities. Founded by volunteers in 1998, The ReBuilding Center carries the region's largest volume of used building and remodeling materials. It provides resources that make home repairs affordable to everyone, with the goal of promoting the reuse of salvaged and reclaimed materials. Three hundred visitors come to The ReBuilding Center every day to browse the ever-changing inventory that includes sinks, tubs, tile, lumber, doors, windows, trim and much more.
In addition to the reuse warehouse, our Community Outreach program works from the roots to bring people together to share their ideas to inspire practices that strengthen community. We envision neighborhoods that recognize and build on the strengths, talents, and resources of each individual to create a healthier, more vibrant community.
The ReBuilding Center also includes DeConstruction Services, a sustainable alternative to conventional demolition, and ReFind Furniture, which offers a diverse line of green furniture and home accessories. We also offer a free-pick up service, numerous volunteer opportunities, donations of used building materials for community projects, as well as workshops and classes on how to safely and creatively work with used building materias.
