Description

Team Heroes Sports is a non-profit organization for children with autismthat was founded in 2009 by Ellen Thalhamer. By 2011, Team Heroes had tripled in size. Due to the increased interest, Team Heroes made the decision to become a non-profit organization.

Team Heroes’ special needs camps are run by Special Education teachers and other dedicated volunteers. As an organization we have two missions:

The first is to provide families of children with autism the opportunity to participate in a sport. Children are taught to play soccer and t-ball during the spring and summer months. Each sports team takes place in integrated settings and is run in a modified manner in order to reach each child’s individual needs. Parents interact and participate with their children on the field, playing soccer/t-ball, while the coaches facilitate the experience.

The second mission of Team Heroes is to provide families of children with autism with materials/supplies they need in order to educate their child. School districts do not provide these materials and expenses can become overwhelming for families. Team Heroes hopes to decrease that stress.
