Mission Statement

The mission of LVA-PW is to teach adults the life-changing skills of reading, writing, and speaking English that will enable them to participate and prosper in our society.

Description

LVA-PW is an award-winning adult literacy 501(c)(3) non-profit, proudly serving the community for over 27 years. We offer classroom and one-on-one instruction, at locations throughout the county, in basic literacy (for adults who read below the 5th grade level), English as a Second Languages (ESL), GED preparation, Civics and Citizenship, Conversation classes, Computer and Job Readiness classes to help adults develop skills to find jobs in the local job market, and an innovative Confidence Course. LVA-PW serves over 700 adults learners each year with the help of over 220 trained volunteer tutors. Since our inception, we have served over 8,500 adults and impacted the lives of over 35,000 family members.

LVA-PW is the 2015 winner of the Agnes L. Colgan Community Service Award for Arts and Education from the Prince William Chamber of Commerce.
