Mission Statement

The mission of the Community Forest Trust is to create a community wide ethic of stewardship for the Prescott National Forest and surrounding landscapes. The Community Forest Trust recruits, coordinates, and contects volunteers to opportunities where they can make a real contribution to the sustainalbe management of these critical resources.

Description

The Prescott National Forest consists of 1.25 million acres of land. The forest contains 12 campgrounds, 4 group reservation campgrounds, 9 picnic areas, and 3 group reservation picnic areas. The forest offers nearly 450 miles of scenic trails for hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, or mountain biking. Motorized users have over 410 miles of trails and 1,500 miles of road on which to enjoy the beauty of the forest. The forest also is the guardian of more than 100,000 acres of wilderness. The forest service is able to manage all of these resources using permanent full-time and part-time employees and non-paid volunteers.

In 2010 the Community Forest Trust entered into a partnership with the Prescott National Forest to provide a Volunteer Coordinator and help organize and supervise volunteers. Volunteers donating their efforts with the CFT are provided opportunities in a timely and efficient manner.
