Project Solution fosters a Pr-Active community approach to keep at-risk youth off the streets, out of gangs, and focused on positive behaviors.
Project Solution seeks to provide real job skills, work experience, and career opportunities to homeless youth, kids aging out of foster care, and low-income youth. Project Solution a 501 (c) 3 has been providing a safe haven from the streets and after school opportunities for recreation and education for twelve years. Every day 60 to 200 kids and young adults age 8 to 20 use the facility; this diverse population includes Caucasian, Hispanic, African American, Native American, Filipino, Pacific Islander, and many others. Located at the corner of Bresson Avenue and Yori Street, Project Solution occupies an old school building with over 18,000 square feet on a 2 acre site. The building includes a full sized gym, weights room, art room, computers with internet access, lending library, dance room, various classrooms and a small kitchen. Additionally, there is an outdoor playground and an outdoor basketball court. Programs: The Jobs Program - Beginning with a token system, this program will provide on-site opportunities and incentives for youth to develop job skills in a variety of areas. Encouraging Entrepreneurship Program - We will be offering one-on-one tutoring and training for our budding entrepreneurs with local business owners. In addition, the kids will learn what is involved with running a business or selling a product as they actually participate in programs sponsored by local businesses. This program will run alongside The Jobs Program as a comprehensive business education. Urban Organic Farm Program - We are developing an urban garden and an accompanying curriculum where the entire community can learn vegetable and fruit cultivation, nutrition, and healthy meal preparation.
