Mission Statement

The Friends of Anahuac Refuge is a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit organization established in 1997 by a group of local citizens dedicated to preserving, promoting, and enhancing Anahuac NWR. Since that time, it has grown to over 300 members ranging from locals to visitors from all over the world who come to refuge to view wildlife and natural habitat.

Description

What we do:

-Support the refuge at public events and meetings

-Fundraising for refuge projects and obtain grants for projects on the refuge

-Raise public awareness about the refuge

-Host volunteer work days on the refuge

-Operate two nature stores

-Lead wildlife watching excursions on the refuge

-Develop an educational program for children in local schools
