Mission Statement

The American Civil Liberties Union is a non-profit, non-partisan, public interest organization that seeks to protect the freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. The ACLU maintains, defends and advances civil liberties and civil rights including the freedoms of speech, press, religion, association and the rights to franchise, to due process of law and to equal protection of the laws for all people in Delaware and the United States. Our purposes are sought without political partisanship.

Description

The American Civil Liberties Union of Delaware (ACLU-DE) is a nonprofit, membership organization devoted to defending and preserving the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the U.S. and Delaware Constitutions. We accomplish our mission by:

  • Educating the people of Delaware about important civil liberty issues;
  • Protecting and advancing our rights and freedoms by participating in the legislative process; and
  • Providing legal assistance to secure the benefits of constitutional protections when necessary.
