Description

Goals

One of Redbird?s main objectives is the creation of Redbird Ranch, an elder and transitional housing facility for Native American elders and their care giving families as they near their end of life phase. Redbird Ranch will provide a culturally sensitive and appropriate setting for these families during this difficult period.

It will be a place where modern and traditional healing ways can co-exist in a comfortable, familiar atmosphere, and where elders can approach the final stage of life with peace and dignity. The American Indian community is among the least well represented in the field of health programs and housing. Redbird Ranch will provide a model for urban Indian housing and healthcare. The group is currently seeking support for this venture, which they see as the most important and meaningful contribution they can make to the native community.

Support

To support these projects, Redbird recently joined eScrip, an electronic service which allows merchants to contribute to non profit groups on behalf of their patrons. By registering store loyalty cards and ATM cards with eScrip, individuals can contribute to Redbird every time they shop with an eScrip merchant, such as Vons, Macy?s, Aamco Transmission, Claim Jumper and many others. The contribution is made electronically and automatically by the merchant, based on the amount of purchase. There is no charge for registering with this service.
