Mission Statement

The Friends of Boggs Mountain's mission is to enhance the visitor's experience at Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest, through educational and interpretive programs, helping in the development of facilities, and assisting with maintenance and infrastructure improvements. We work collaboratively with the Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest managing entity - the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire).

Description

The Friends of Boggs Mountain activities include:

  • MAINTAINING and improving over 22 miles of trails
  • ADDING and replacing signs along all designated forest trails
  • UPDATING, improving, and financing the forest trail maps
  • DEVELOPING and maintaining a self-guided interpretive nature trail
  • CREATING over 50 detailed interpretive trail signs with illustrations
  • MAINTAINING and updating information posted on kiosks
  • SPONSORING free outdoor summer programs with guest speakers
  • PROVIDING quarterly newsletters (for members)
  • OFFERING nature outings for all fitness levels through our hiking program
  • WORKING TOGETHER with event organizers to mitigate impacts and protect the integrity and sustainability of our trail system while allowing safe access for non-event forest visitors
