At Partners to End Homelessness (PTEH) our mission is to find viable long term solutions to address the homelessness crisis in Jackson, Mississippi and surrounding areas. We work with national agencies, local providers, advocates, and for-profit organizations to evaluate the root-cause of homelessness while, at the same time, serving those in need. As the continuum of care for Hinds, Rankin, Warren, Madison and Copiah counties, we evaluate the homeless service system in our area, to identify gaps in services and address those gaps whenever possible.
Partners to End Homelessness was informally established in 1999 by a small group of homeless service providers seeking to share resources and address issues effecting the homeless community. In 2008, the organization was incorporated and became a recognized nonprofit in order to fill the need for a Continuum of Care serving Hinds, Rankin, Warren, Madison, and Copiah counties for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In this role, Partners has grown into a collaboration of over 46 agencies and has secured over 1.6 million dollars annually for homeless shelters and service agencies in our community. In addition, Partners was awarded 2.2 million dollars through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing (HPRP) between 2009 and 2012. These funds were sub-granted to local agencies to provide rental and utility assistance to those who were homeless and at risk of being homeless. During this program period, PTEH and its partners were able to prevent homelessness for over 3000 at-risk individuals and re-house over 400 who were homeless at the time they contacted our agencies.
