Mission Statement

Macomb County Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian housing ministry dedicated to building safe, decent, and affordable housing in partnership with qualified families in Macomb County. Our mission is to eliminate poverty housing and to help revitalize Macomb County neighborhoods. We believe that everyone deserves a safe, decent and affordable place to live. The aim is to create an environment of hope, dignity, and truly human existence for all people.

Description

Macomb County Habitat for Humanity provides a hand up, not a hand out to families in need. We offer our partner families an opportunity to help themselves, to own a decent, affordable home of their own. Each adult family member 18 and older invests a minimum of 250 hours of sweat equity into building their homes and the homes of others. By investing themselves in the building process, homeowners gain self-reliance, self-esteem and new skills. Houses are then sold to selected partner families with 20-25 year interest-free mortgage at no profit to Habitat. Monthly mortgage payments are then used to build additional homes.
