Mission Statement

Legal Aid*s mission is to improve social justice, economic equity and opportunity, and to assure due process and equal protection of the law, by providing low-income and vulnerable Marin residents (poor people, children, seniors, immigrants, people with disabilities, and the homeless) with access to high-quality, effective legal services, including direct representation and pro per support services, as well as through affirmative litigation. Formed as The Legal Aid Society of Marin County, Legal Aid of Marin has continuously provided free legal services and representation to low-income and senior residents of Marin since 1958. Over the years, Legal Aid of Marin has built an impressive record of defending the rights of Marin*s most vulnerable residents, winning unpaid wages for workers, cleaning up dilapidated housing and holding negligent landlords to account, protecting the homeless from unfair harassment, and fighting to insure that the cities of Marin maintain affordable housing.
