Mission Statement

The Inter-Ed program is dedicated to the philosophy that people can make a positive contribution to a better world through educational cultural exchanges. Foreign students gain an understanding of how our cultural functions by participating in an educational homestay program in the United States. Only through such firsthand experience do people really learn understanding and acceptance.

Description

The United States is known as the land of opportunity...perhaps this is why Americans have always been so generous in opening their homes to high school foreign exchange students. Inter-Ed. is looking for caring families to open their heart and home to a student from abroad. Students would like to attend an American High School for a semester or school year. If you are able to provide a room, meals, and a stable and loving environment....you have what it takes to become a host family for a high school foreign exchange student. Inter-Ed students carry full insurance and have their own spending money. We hope that you will join our global family by opening your heart and home.

We are new to this organization, and will not yet recommend it to anyone. We volunteered to host a student from Germany, and we live in the Bay Area, and he later connected to the agency, even though we found the student. The student will be obligated to travel to Clovis, about 3 or so hours away from home, for orientation, for trips to Disneyland, and other events. Its a bit far for us. We hope this is a non-profit agency and we don't know what the student's parents are paying them. We may not go with this organization next year if this organization doesn't seem to serve the student, and our family in the process. How many people host foreign students without some financial assistance to pay for teenage food and care? We want to hook up with a Bay Area agency to host foreign students in our home. We'll see how it goes, and let you know. ST
