Description

The Ohio Genealogical Society operates a library with over 30,000 volumes on early Ohio families with numerous manuscripts, Bible records, computer databases, obituaries, family files, and more. The organization publishes four journals - the OGS Quarterly, OGS Genealogy News, Ohio Records & Pioneer Families, and the Ohio Civil War Genealogy Journal. We have three lineage societies, First Families of Ohio, the Society of Civil War Families of Ohio, and Settlers and Builders of Ohio, and we house the proof documents for over 10,000 pioneers. We publish over 20 statewide reference guides to family history and our 95 chapters across Ohio and in Florida have over 2000 genealogy/local history works currently in print. Membership is currently $32 per year (2005) - this funds our non-profit.
