Mission Statement

The HUC-JIR Soup Kitchen is an entirely volunteer run organization that distributes food, clothing, and legal services for homeless and low-income people every Monday evening. The Soup Kitchen operates on the principle of kavod, the Hebrew word for respect and honor. Our goal is to treat our guests with dignity, serving food to the tables restaurant-style, as well providing entertainment and conversation.

Description

The HUC-JIR Soup Kitchen provides hot food, clothing, toiletries, musical entertainment and legal services to approximately 100 guests every Monday evening between 5 and 6 p.m. Volunteers come from area schools and religious organizations, as well as from the general community.
