"Wanyuan" is a senior companionship program at Chinese Community Center. It is a one-on-one companionship built upon the volunteer's care for the senior, without anticipating any return from the companion or compensation from anyone. We realize that life at the late stage can be very lonesome and hopeless. We would like to devote our time and energy to show the senior companion that there is love and care for him or her in this world. We as volunteers can grow with the feeling that we have connected with someone whose life can be enriched with our love and care. I personally have experienced it and think it is a very rewarding feeling.

I tell you what, if you want a very organized, personal development oriented and very well structured way to volunteer, CCC is something you should look into. I have been volunteering with both the senior and youth programs for only 3 months and I have learnt so much about how to work with people and how best to apply myself when interacting with the elderly and kids. Plus, I get to meet amazing other volunteers who are simply great to work with. Please look it up, CCC is a great place!

Great program to be a part of! Volunteers are supportive and understanding. Those visited are appreciative of the program and the companionship it offers. In addition, it's participants and the center offer many opportunities for events outside of volunteering for fellowship and training in becoming a better volunteer.

This is a great program that really promotes community between both volunteers and their companions. There are four healthcare centers to choose from and scheduling is flexible! I would definitely recommend this volunteer opportunity to anyone looking to make a difference in someone's life. The seniors are always happy to see their volunteer companions and are really appreciative of them!!

Wan Yuan has helped me in my personal growth and has introduce me to many new friends. After visiting a senior a group of many other volunteers share their stories in the nursing home lobby, and sometimes we go out for lunch as a group!!
