DFSC provides a variety of supportive services that enable women to get and retain employment which in turn makes life easier for their families and improves the quality of life in our community as well. Through the success of DFSC, our local workforce improves in both quality and quantity, one effective employee at a time. The services provided by DFSC include: 1) Dressing provides work-appropriate outfits (suits, pumps and accessories) for job interviews and initial days of working. Since its inception, and paying attention to the needs of the women we serve, we found that there were other important needs for services for women getting back into the workplace. So to complement dressing services, DFSC also provides extensive employment retention programming which includes: 1) Professional Womenâ  s Group (PWG), a 10-month job retention program focused on financial literacy, professional/personal development, life skills related to balancing work and family, education for business, and career growth through technology; 2) The Career Corner where individualized instruction on computer skills (Microsoft Office), job search resources and support, rà ©sumà © preparation and interview techniques are provided and 3) Steps to Success development workshops - a six-week program focused on young adults in the pre-employment stage. The workshops are offered to referring agencies to help their consumers focus on the basic skills of the workplace, financial literacy and expectations in the workplace. This program is a collaborative effort in preparing women for transition into the workforce.
