Mission Statement
The Mission of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Georgia, Inc. is to make a positive difference in the lives of children and youth, primarily through a professionally-supported One-to-One relationship with a caring adult, and to assist them in achieving their highest potential as they grow to become responsible men and women by providing trained, committed volunteers and a program and services which enhance the volunteer efforts.
Description
We serve Albany, Cordele, Tifton and Valdosta, Georgia.
Community-based Program - Mentors spend 2-4 hours per week with a Little Brother or Sister. Adult volunteers are matched with children between 5 and 14 who need positive role models. Volunteers must be at least 18 and have exclusive access to a car, and will engage in activities of common interest in the local community.
Buddies in School - This school-based program allows volunteers to make an impact in the life of a child spending one hour a week within the school environment. Volunteers must be at least 16, and all contact is on school grounds only.
